About 85 HOPE

Our Story

Our story begins in 2011, when local medical professionals saw the need for a free medical clinic in Wabash County due to the overwhelming lack of health insurance at that time. Dr. Rose Wenrich organized a team to start this project, and after receiving a substantial grant from the Ford Meter Box Foundation, 85 HOPE Free Medical Clinic opened its doors in December 2011. The clinic started with only two small rooms in a local office building, but quickly grew and needed more space. Within a year, it was moved to a larger site at Wabash Friends Church, where it remained until 2021.

In 2021, we moved our clinic site from Wabash Friends Church to a more easily accessible location in downtown Wabash, joining with three other non-profit organizations in a building called Lighthouse Crossings.

Today, 85 HOPE continues to operate the clinic in Wabash.  We staff the clinic with employees and volunteers, including medical providers, physical therapists, nurses, and non-medical volunteers. Free services offered include medical exams and care, prescription and over-the-counter medications, lab and radiology testing at Parkview Wabash Hospital, physical therapy services, annual flu vaccines, onsite Covid testing, annual mammograms, colon cancer screening, healthcare navigation services, and referrals for specialty care needs such as dental, optometry, mental health, and other specialty care services. 85 HOPE also serves as a connection point for our clients to many local resources.
